About Mike McGeehan

Michael Patrick was born on November 26, 1960 in Philadelphia, the son of Cornelius and Dorothy McGeehan. One of seven children, he comes from a family with deep roots in the community. He is a 1979 graduate of Father Judge High School and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Joseph's University in 1985. Michael became involved with the Democratic Party in Philadelphia and ran a successful campaign for election in November 1990 to win a seat in the Pennsylvania Legislature representing the 173rd Legislative District. He has retained that seat through eight consecutive terms serving the neighborhoods of Holmesburg, Mayfair, Tacony and Wissinoming. He currently sits on four committees; Environmental Resources & Energy, Game and Fisheries, Labor & Industry, Liquor Control. Over the course of his service in the General Assembly he has sponsored many pieces of legislation that have been enacted into law. Currently, Michael has legislation pending in the house that addresses the ever increasing problem relating to identity theft and unjust incarceration. He was the prime sponsor of the dormitory sprinkler act and most recently introduced the institutional sprinkler bill.
